Level 1: Beginner Essentials
I am New to Sewing
In this "0-60" two hour class, learn terms, tools, and how to use a sewing machine. Plus, make a drawstring bag.
Registration includes all supplies.
Please bring your own machine if you have one so that you can learn how to use it. If needed there are limited machines available to reserve at the studio.
Offered once per month.
This beginner friendly project teaches basic fitting, cutting and construction methods while learning the pattern symbols and instructions.
Two-Day PJ Pants workshop--the second date will be one week later. The total class time is 6hrs.
Pre-req: Intro to sewing or basic understanding of how to use a sewing machine.
What to bring:
3 yards of cotton or flannel fabric--Please pre-wash and dry (pattern will be provided)
If owned, bring your sewing machine to get the practice using it. (limited machines to reserve)

Level 2: Garment Skills
I can sew and want new skills.
Learn how to make patches, fix holes, and general alterations.
Bring: A garment you would like to repair. We will talk about how to do it. Depending on time, you will be able to start the repair.
This class is an overview. You will learn with some sample work.
Please bring your own machine if you have one or if needed there are limited machines available to reserve at the studio.
Sept. 8 6:00-8:00pm
This class takes the fear out of using your serger. Yes, it has a lot of threading and yes, it has blades. But, Oh! the joy you get when you can finish your seams easily and move on to knit wear!
We go over the basics and get you comfortable threading your machine!
Bring: your serger and all of it's parts and your glasses if you wear them! :)
Sept 24 6:00-8:00pm
Use your serger to make a wardrobe staple.
Pre-requisite: Serger Basics
Supplies:
Pattern will be provided.
Bring 2 yards of knit fabric of your choice. Please wash and dry before class.
Bring your serger and thread to match your fabric.
Oct 3 9:30am-1:30pm
Level 3: Fit & Design
I can sew from a pattern and want to work on fit and design.
Level 1: Pattern Changes
When: Sept. 22 6pm-8pm
What to bring: (supplies will be provided)
IF owned: paper scissors, pencil (mechanical preferred) eraser, tape, pattern making rulers
Level 2: Personal Fit
When: Oct. 27 6pm-8pm
What to bring: A mock-up of a garment you want to fit. (wear undergarments that you would wear with the chosen garment since it affects fit)
Pre-req: Previously sewn a garment and/or used a sewing pattern.
Draft a skirt block from your measurements (or standardized size if preferred). Make a mock-up (toile) to ensure fit. Then learn some common style change techniques so that you can make what you dream!

Nov 2 & 9 5:30-8:00pm
Discover how draping can aid your creativity. Learn how to make shapes that can become patterns. Understand dress form sizing and when it is important to change it.
Nov 10 5:00-8:00pm
All Levels
Gain the important details to help you choose the right fabric for your next project. This class compresses a semester of textile theory into 3 hours of actionable expertise.
