Artisan grew from my lifelong love of making and my desire to share the skills that have shaped my own career. After more than 30 years working in garment construction, costume design, fashion, and education, I saw an opportunity to create a learning environment where students could develop real skills while also experiencing the joy and confidence that comes from making something themselves.

What makes Artisan unique is the combination of professional fashion-industry experience and highly personal instruction. I opened Artisan a decade ago with the goal of sharing that experience. My educational training and work history include a Bachelors in Costume Design and a Master of Fine Art in Fashion Design, and contract work including emerging brands, theater work, and university teaching. I understand the value of sewing as an educational process and strive to share my experience.

I don't simply teach people how to complete a project—I teach them the underlying skills and knowledge that allow them to become independent makers.
